Privacy Policy

The short version:

  • Your photos never leave your device. Every compression, conversion, resize, rotation and crop happens locally, inside your own browser. We never see your images, and we don't have a server that could receive them even if we wanted to.
  • We don't track you. No sign-up, no account, no tracking cookies, no fingerprinting. The only outside parties involved are the company that hosts this website and a privacy-friendly, cookie-free analytics service that tells us roughly how many people visited today — nothing about who you are or what you processed.
  • Should you trust us? You don't have to take our word for it — the source code of this application is public, so anyone can check exactly what it does. We've also been building image-compression software under the Mass Image Compressor name for close to two decades — a reputation we keep having to earn, not one we get to just claim.

If you ever email our support team, the clauses below explain exactly how that's handled too. That's the whole story; the rest of this page just says it in the more formal way a policy is expected to.

1. Scope of this policy

This Privacy Policy covers two things only: this website, and your email conversations with our support team at [email protected]. If you choose to reach us or collaborate with us through some other platform instead — for example, by opening an issue on GitHub — that platform's own privacy policy applies to that interaction, not this one.

2. Information we collect

We do not collect, store or transmit your images, your files or any information about them. There is no account to create, no sign-in, and no server-side processing of any kind — everything the tool does to an image happens on your own device, using your browser's own processing power. We have no mechanism to receive your images even if we wanted to.

We do not use tracking cookies, fingerprinting, or any form of targeted or behavioural analytics. We do not know who you are, and this policy is written with that fact in mind.

3. Website hosting and analytics

This website is hosted on infrastructure provided by Hostinger. Like any web host, Hostinger's servers necessarily see standard web traffic metadata (such as your IP address and the pages you request) in order to deliver the site to your browser.

We also use Cloudflare's privacy-friendly web analytics to understand basic, aggregate usage of the website — for example, how many visits it received on a given day. This analytics is cookie-free and does not build a profile tied to you individually. Neither Hostinger nor Cloudflare receives your images or any information about what you did with them; the tool itself sends nothing to either service.

4. Contacting our support team

If you contact [email protected] — for example, to report a bug — and you choose to attach one or more images to help us understand or reproduce the problem, we will use those images only for that purpose. We retain them for only as long as reasonably necessary to investigate and resolve the issue, and we will delete them sooner at your request: just email us and ask.

5. Disclosure to third parties

We do not sell, rent or share any information with third parties for marketing or any other commercial purpose. This includes California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). We may disclose information — including anything you have sent our support team, such as debug images — where required to do so by law, such as in response to a valid request from a government or regulatory authority, or where necessary to comply with a legal obligation.

6. Changes to this policy

We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. Because we don't collect your email address or any other contact details, we have no way to notify you of a change individually, and a revision may take effect without advance notice. We encourage you to revisit this page occasionally; the date at the top always reflects the latest revision.
